• IMPD Chief Chris Bailey has announced a new portal that includes information about crime and traffic statistics, as well as professional standards in a user-friendly format. Visit the site at impdtransparency.indy.gov and see what you think about it.
• Indianapolis Vision Zero Task Force is going to reconvene on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 4 p.m. in the Public Assembly Room at the City-County Council Building to adopt the City’s Vision Zero Action Plan, a framework aimed at eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries on Indianapolis streets. Vision Zero is a City-County wide commitment to eliminate traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries that was established via ordinance in 2024. All are welcome to attend.
• Mass Ave will have a Small Business Saturday on Nov. 29 beginning at 9 a.m. Participating businesses along Mass Ave. will have swag bags, specials, and lots going on.
• Gentlefolks Bicycle Riding will have a meandering ride on the east side on Black Friday, Nov. 28 beginning in the parking lot of Amelia’s Bread, 1637 Nowland Ave. with check in at 11 a.m. and a rollout at noon. The pace will be “that of a middle-aged guy that’s in no hurry, likes bombing through alleys, and doesn’t want to sweat.” (Their words, not mine.) There will be some rough terrain, so bring a bike that can handle it.
• Scecina Memorial High School is hosting a Christmas Concert on Monday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at the school, 5000 Nowland Ave. The concert will feature the school’s choir and band. Doors open at 6:40 p.m.
• The Athenaeum Christkindlmarkt opens on Friday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and runs through Sunday, Dec. 21. They will be open Fridays 4-8 p.m., Saturdays 11 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sundays 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Authentic There will be German food and more, a Sankt Nikolaus Fest and Krampusnacht. This is a wildly popular tradition downtown.
• The City of Indianapolis recently awarded a $30,000 grant to the Little Flower neighborhood to provide amenities to make 10th St. from Sherman to Leland Ave. (just past Steer In) safer and more attractive. Planters, benches, and signage will be part of the plan of the Little Flower Neighborhood Association.
• Thanksgiving is a Federal holiday, so all state, local, and federal offices will be closed. Trash pickup will be on a sliding schedule. The post offices will be closed and there will be no mail delivery. Many businesses will be closed or have shorter hours.
