Applause!: Oct. 17-23

• A protest against a proposed data center at 2505 N. Sherman Dr. drew dozens of Martindale-Brightwood neighbors and officials. The company Metrobloks wants to build their facility on the 13 acre property, claiming it will add $10 million in property tax revenue and 50 jobs to the area. There will be public hearings on rezoning the property at a later date.
• Locally Made: Indy’s Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18 from noon-5 p.m. at the Indy Art Center, 820 E. 67th St. The ARTSPARK will have activities, pumpkin painting, and artisanal goods from over 50 vendors. There will be food trucks, local beer and wine for purchase. Admission is free.
• Franklin Township Community Park recently got a $2.8 million upgrade that includes a new playground, pickleball and basketball courts, trails, and more. It is the second largest park in Franklin Township, located at 8801 Edgewood Ave.
• Garfield Park will host The Haunted Conservatory on Wednesday, Oct. 22 and Thursday, Oct. 23. Bring the little ones in their costumes at 5:30-7:30 p.m. for a less scary time, or the older kids from 7-9 p.m. both days. Admission is $5 per person at the door. The Conservatory is located at 2519 Garfield Plaza Dr. on the south side.
• The Eiteljorg will host Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Admission is free, and the day will be filled with music, art making, vendors, and a community-curated altar display. The Eiteljorg is located at 500 W. Washington St.
• Want to find out more about the potential for redistricting in Indiana? There will be a Chat & Chew on Thursday, Oct. 23 at the AMP at 16 Tech, 1220 Waterway Blvd from 6:00-7:30 p.m. The panel discussion with Nathan Gotsch, Laura Merrifield Wilson and Julia Vaughn will provide you with information about the effects of redistricting.
• The 13th Hour Haunted House will have a Kid’s Day on Sunday, Oct. 16 from 2-4 p.m. with trick-or-treating, friendly characters, and to see all the sets and details with the lights on. Admission is $5 and available online at 13thhour.fearticket.com. The house is at 915 S. Shortridge Rd.
• The 2025 Windsor Park Neighborhood Block Party will be held on Friday, Oct. 24 from 5:30 to ? at Fletcher Park, 1429 E. Brookside Ave. Go to the Windsor Park – Indy Facebook page and look for the event to RSVP. Windsor Park Neighborhood Association is bringing pizza and Stomping Ground is donating cider. They are also accepting donations of candy — bring a bag of candy to Stomping Ground before the 19th to make gift bags for the kids. Stomping Ground is at 1625 Nowland Ave. near the Kan-Kan Cinema.
