INDIANAPOLIS — Q Artistry is auditioning kids ages 7-17 for a very special QKids project. East Side Story is a 45 minutes musical romp about a friendship on the East Side of Indianapolis and parodying the Bernstein musical masterpiece West Side Story. Q will be casting 12 kids to match up with 12 adults who work professionally in the Indianapolis theatre industry for a special mentoring rehearsal process while learning the show and to acquire experience working in a professional original production.
Auditions are March 22 at 10 a.m. (first come-first serve); callbacks are March 23 at 6 p.m. Bring 32 bars of a song in any style. An accompanist will be provided if you have sheet music or you may sing a cappella (without music). Song must be memorized. Also bring a 30 second to 1 minute monologue in any style. Monologue must be memorized. Original monologues are encouraged as long as they are memorized and rehearsed.
Wear dance wear or clothing you can move in. There will be a dance portion of the audition. Please bring your calendar information so that we may get all rehearsal conflicts from you in order to create a more comprehensive rehearsal plan.
Auditions will be held at Q Artistry, 5515 East Washington St.
