INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD Criminal Interdiction K9 teams recently competed in the Annual American Working Dogs K9 Olympics. The competition is a week-long, extreme test of skills, for both dog and handler. Each event is pressure filled, with teams competing in front of judges who keep watch on a set amount of time while being judged on the K9 handler’s technique and style and how the handler is “reads” their K9 partner. The K9 teams trained and prepared for the events and competed against 93 other police and military K9 teams.
These successes by IMPD Criminal Interdiction K9 teams, translate directly into making our community safer.
K9 Felipe and Detective Robinett placed first in overall dog and handler, interior vehicle search and placed in the top 3 for other events. K9 Mina and Detective Thorla placed first for exterior vehicle search and in the top 3 for other events.
K9 Kruz and Detective Brinker also competed honorably.
