• Fort Harrison State Park is hosting a concert on Sledding Hill

• On Saturday, Aug. 30, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Rosanna Hardin Hall (on her birthday!) at the reception for her current art exhibit (43 paintings from around the globe) at the Nature Center at Holliday Park, 6363 Spring Mill Road, Indianapolis. She will also be autographing her two books, filled with her beautiful art work. A full 25 percent of all sales goes to the Holliday Park Foundation.
• Hancock County Arts will present SEEN/SCENE, a photography show from Aug. 28-Sept. 27 at 20A N. State St. in Greenfield. Photographers from the area will show their best works in a variety of genres. There will be an Artists Reception Sept. 12 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
• Two more recycle locations have closed due to illegal dumping. Both are on Kroger properties and are being closed at the request of management. The locations are 8130 Southport Rd. and 71st and Binford.
• The Dept. of Public Works has announced that they are beginning work on a new roundabout at Southport and Five Points road. The intersection has seen a lot of crashes and slows traffic on the southeast side. It should be completed in 2026.
• Tuttles Orchard, 5717 N 300 W. in Greenfield, will be hosting a Caramel Apple Festival on Sept. 6 and Sept. 13 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. You can build your own caramel apple and top it from many gourmet toppings. You can pick your own apples from many varieties, or explore the FarmYard activity area. Admission is $10 for adults and children. Babies under 1 are free for the activity area. Admission to the farm itself is free.
• The 51st Annual Indianapolis Oktoberfest in German Park will be held Thursday, Sept. 4-Saturday, Sept. 6 at 8602 S. Meridian. Admission begins at 4 p.m. each day. Come out for authentic German food, real Paulaner Bier, music, dancing, and much more. Admission is $5 per person, children 12 and under are free.
• Mark your calendar for the Type-In at Irvington on Tuesday, Sept. 9 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Irvington Branch. Drop in and try the branch’s array of old-fashioned typewriters. Type a poem, a sentence, or just listen to the clacking of keys. The library is located at 10 S. Audubon Rd.
