INDIANAPOLIS — Community Fairbanks Recovery Center is celebrating 80 years of offering help and hope through drug and alcohol addiction treatment in Indiana. For decades, the name Fairbanks has been synonymous with trusted recovery services, providing access to one of the state’s most comprehensive medical and behavioral health systems. Community Fairbanks Recovery Center caregivers, alumni, family members, and others recently gathered at the facility on the campus of Community North at 8102 Clearvista Parkway to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the recovery center and the retirement of Dr. Tim Kelly from Community Health Network.
The recovery center was founded in 1945 to treat men suffering from alcohol addiction in Indianapolis. It was the first non-profit hospital in Indianapolis focused on addiction treatment. Fairbanks introduced the first treatment program for women in Indiana in 1970 and the first full-service adolescent treatment program in Indiana in 1980. Fairbanks integrated with Community Health Network in 2019. Community Fairbanks Recovery Center is one of the oldest nonprofit alcohol and drug treatment centers in the country.
Today, the center serves everyone who struggle with substance use disorders through a full continuum of care—including inpatient detox and residential treatment along with outpatient addiction medicine, family counseling, recovery housing, and long-term recovery management.
