• There will be an unveiling of Madge’s Vision on Tuesday, April 22 at 5:30 p.m. at 5606 East Washington St. Artist Andrea Light, author Charlotte Ottinger, and local leaders will attend to celebrate Madge’s legacy and the vision moving forward. After the event, Charlotte Ottinger will speak at the library about Madge Oberholtzer, the woman who helped bring down the KKK in Indiana.
• The 2025 Indy Neighborhood Cats Mega Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, April 26 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Indianapolis Animal Care Services, 2600 S. Harding St. There will be 40 or so vendors, selling everything from household goods, home decor, collectables and more. Anyone who brings a bag of dry cat food, a case of wet cat food, litter, newspaper or sheets will get a $10 bag that can be filled with sale treasures.
• Crown Hill Arboretum is offering 200 native tree seedlings to neighbors and visitors the week of April 21 from the front porch of the Waiting Station offices (next to the Gothic Gate), 3402 Boulevard Place. The limit is one tree per person. They will provide information about the best sites for each seedling, and care of the tree. Species include Shagbark Hickory, White Oak, Bur Oak, Pin Oak, Northern Pecan, and Chestnut Oak. The seedlings are free. Visit crownhillhf.org for more information.
• The Airmen of Note tour will come to Arsenal Tech High School on Friday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. for a a night of music by the United States Air Force Band — from swing to modern. • The Irvington Community Garden is hosting an Earth Day celebration and opening day on Tuesday, April 22 at 6 p.m. All are invited around the bonfire to sip tea, make crafts, and just be in the community. There will be a hands-on garden workshop, with a sliding scale fee ($5-$25). Register online at Eventbrite.com. The garden is located at 6018 Dewey in Irvington.
Happy Easter to all who celebrate! Sunday, April 20 is Easter. All library branches will be closed. In addition, many retailers will be closed, including Target, Costco, Sam’s Club, Kohl’s, and Lowe’s, to name just a few.
