INDIANAPOLIS Indianapolis Black Theatre Company and The District Theatre proudly presents Indy Black Solos Fest, a powerful celebration of storytelling that places the experiences of Black men and women – past and present – at its very heart.
In the words of founding artistic director, Ben Rose “This festival builds Indianapolis Black Theatre Company’s reputation and relationships in other cities and identifies, diversifies and exposes IBTC to touring artists. The Black Solos Fest promises an unforgettable experience that will move your spirit and ignite meaningful conversations.”
Indianapolis Black Theatre Company will present Black Solos Fest Jan. 24-26 on two stages with four performers and 12 performances over the three days. Individual show tickets are $25, and a FOUR SHOW FLEX PASS will be $60. Visit indydistricttheatre to order tickets.
The shows are:
• Bloodline by Paris Crayton III. The multi-generational love story of three men with the same name.
• BRINGME2B (RETURN ME TO ME) by Tasha Jones. A conversation between ‘the people, the poem, and the poet’ traversing America’s trajectory of Black Me.
• The Kitchen Table by Curtis D. Shepard. Two things you need in life: Grey haired friends to translate stuff and an old kitchen table.
• The Real Black Swann Confessions of America‘s First Black Drag Queen by Les Kurkendaal. The true story of William Dorsey Swann. He was a former slave who became the Queen of Drag in the 1800’s.
