IRVINGTON — Irvington Community Middle School was one of only ten Indiana schools to be awarded an Indiana STEM grant provided by the Infosys Foundation. The opportunity this grant provides the school is immeasurable. Consisting of two components, this grant will establish not only ICMS, but the entire ICS corporation as a competitive destination in the increasingly important engineering and technology arena of education. This grant will provide students with the opportunity to engage with technology in real-world applications, develop life skills, such as problem solving, teamwork, cohort learning environments, and critical thinking as well as nurturing imagination and creativity.
The first component of the grant revolves around the Infento life-size electric vehicle platform. Think of Infento as “Lego meets Tesla”, where students will have the opportunity to learn to design, build, code, and drive electric vehicles. This side of the grant will allow the student to instantly engage with hands-on education though a series of different guided projects. Once the students master the guided build series is when the convergence of imagination, creativity, and education will begin through a series of design challenges intended to inspire students to be inventive and innovative.
The second component of the grant revolves around the Riders AI platform. Riders AI is an innovative platform designed to make learning robotics, coding, and AI accessible and engaging for students. It provides a virtual environment where students can design, code, and test their own robotic systems. The platform encourages creativity and empowers students to tackle real world challenges, preparing them for both academic success and future careers in technology.
