INDIANAPOLIS — Capitol Avenue lane restrictions have begun, Indiana University Health said.
According to a press release, the closures are for underground utility and construction work near the new hospital project from IU Health. However, one lane of through traffic, as well as the IndyGo Red Line’s bus traffic, will be open between 14th and 16th streets during these restrictions.
IU Health also added that Capitol Avenue between 14th and 16th streets is expected to be closed to through traffic between Aug. 12 and Aug. 23. At that time, traffic heading downtown on Capitol Avenue will be detoured to Meridian Street. Buses on the IndyGo Red Line will still provide their services at the 14th and Capitol bus stop.
Following that, a single lane of through traffic on Capitol Avenue will reopen on Aug. 24, with lane restrictions lasting until Oct. 4, IU Health wrote. IndyGo will not be affected by this, as traffic restrictions will allow both northbound and southbound services to provide busing through Capitol Avenue.
