INDIANAPOLIS — Crown Hill Cemetery’s Arboretum Director Carrie Tauscher will receive the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) Conservation Award.
This award “recognizes adult and youth volunteers, including DAR members, with distinguished conservation records; businesses that exhibit sustained efforts to improve the environment or to educate the public on conservation issues; and compensated individuals who go above and beyond the requirements of their jobs.”
Tauscher was nominated for the NSDAR Conservation Award by the Caroline Scott Harrison Chapter with letters of support from the Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Forestry and the Indiana Arborist Society. She served as the Division of Forestry’s Urban Forester from 2013-2022, running a statewide program to provide communities the guidance and funding to conserve and enhance urban forests.
Tauscher was also a past president of the Indiana Arborist Association, coordinating the group’s annual conference and tree climbing championship as well as advocating for women and diversity within the industry. In addition, she has served on the board of directors of the Indiana Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture.
