INDIANAPOLIS — Kathryn Haigh will take charge as Eiteljorg president and CEO, succeeding John Vanausdall, who is retiring June 30 after more than 26 years leading the museum. She will assume her new duties in May.
Haigh served as interim director and COO at the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields, where she managed collections, exhibitions, conservation, and many other areas. Haigh joined the MIA in 2007. She worked to collect and exhibit works by traditionally marginalized artists, including wormen, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC.
A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Haigh served as chief registrar at the Cincinnati Museum of Art and then at the IMA from 2007-2010. As chief operating officer at Newfields, she helped guide the museum through the COVID-19 pandemic, and then became interim director in 2021. Among her major projects were the installation and operations of the Winterlights holiday display.
