Local School Students Win Gold Medals at State Conference for Leadership

HANCOCK CO. — The Indiana Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Conference was held March 6-8 at the Horizon Center in Muncie, Indiana. Students competed in State events and National STAR events. For the eighth year in a row, the Mt. Vernon High School FCCLA Chapter received Gold which is the highest FCCLA award for their Chapter Honor Binder. The binder documents all FCCLA activities the chapter completes in a calendar year.
Attending the conference and receiving Gold medals for a National FCCLA project “Focus on Children” was Keyona Shearer, Gold medals for State projects work were Cameron Demirioglu and Gabriell Todd for ” Beyond the Basics.” Gold medals for FCCLA in Action Community Service were Cameron Demircioglu, Jazmin Henderson; Gold medal Keyona Shearer “Trend Board”; Silver medal awards to Jazmin Henderson, Kylie Luther, Keyona Shearer “Focus on the Basics”; Silver award to Presley Luher, Delainey Root for SMILE (Nursing Home Project); Bronze award to Addison Dilger for “Career Exploration.”
Receiving awards for FACS projects completed in Education Professions class Gold award for “Career Exploration” Riley Britt, Katherine Hatnett, Lexa LeRoy, Silver award to Delaney Bowser, Landon Clark, Mackenzie Dover, Anna Hawks, Laila Owens, Iris Sifuentes; Bronze award to Morgan Montgomery. In the Early Childhood Learning PAC lesson planning Gold awards went to Anna Hawks, Katherine Hartnett, Lexa LeRoy, Morgan Montogomery, Delaney Bowser, Riley Britt; Silver awards to Laila Owens, Iris Sifuentes, Landon Clark; Bronze award to Mackenzie Dover. Adviser Tammy Bauchert, CFCS was recognized as a 25-year FCCLA adviser at the conference.
