INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Department of Public Works announced plans for extra working hours each day, encouraged by milder temperatures and dry weather until the weekend. At the direction of Mayor Joe Hogsett, and in coordination with union leadership from AFSCME Local 725, Indy DPW workers will undertake an extended 10-hour shift every day to complete a maximum amount of street maintenance.
Indy DPW has filled approximately 24,600 potholes thus far in 2022, including approximately 2,000 potholes last week as dry weather permitted.
While pothole-filling operations have been ongoing throughout this winter season with cold-mix asphalt, the new availability of hot-mix asphalt last Monday, February 21 also allowed crews to begin strip-patching operations across the city. Strip-patching locations are pre-selected by Indy DPW using pavement deterioration data, objective of resident requests.
Any Indianapolis resident can report potholes locations via the RequestIndy online portal or app, the Indy Pothole Viewer, or by calling the Mayor’s Action Center at 317-327-4622.
