• Summit Performance Indianapolis presents Skeleton Crew by Dominique Morisseau Feb. 25 to March 13 at the Phoenix. The play is the final installment of the Detroit Project, and is focused on the decline of the auto industry and its impact on workers. Tickets are $28 for adults, $23 for seniors and students. • Warren Central Choirs will present their annual Circle City Showcase at Warren Central on Saturday, Feb. 26 beginning at 12:45 p.m. There will be 19 middle and high school show choirs performing throughout the day. Ticket are $10 either preliminary or finals competitions or $15 for an all day pass. The event will also be live-streamed, so you can enjoy it in the comfort of your own home. • Get set for Pi Day on Monday, March 14 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Englewood Christian Church, 57 N. Rural. The event will feature slices of pie for purchase and activities that focus on science, techonology, engineering and math (STEM), Family activities, including a pizza pie making demonstration, are included. Pie and ice cream prices start at $10. Professional bakers across the city are invited to enter pies for the pie baking contest. Visit edingames.com for more information on entering. Proceeds will support the Eastside Games that will run June 17-25 this year.
• Indy Parks is now taking reservations for summer day camps. Camps are available at Garfield, Southeastway, Broad Ripple, Brookside, Windsor Village, Ellenberger, Christian, and many more. • The City of Indianapolis maintains recycling locations throughout the city. On the east side, John Marshall High School (10101 E. 38th St.) and Washington Square Mall (10280 E. Washington St.), are the only two locations. Other locations include the Beck Service Center (6025 Madison Ave.), Garfield Park (2345 Pagoda Dr.), and the Kroger at Franklin and Southport. Downtown, there is one recycling center at the Old City Hall, 202 N. Alabama. The sites take all colors of glass, some plastics (no plastic bags), aluminum, tin and steel beverage and food cans, newspapers, cardboard and other paper. Please do no put styrofoam or old furniture or clothing in the bins.
• Thank you to Cummins, which recently announce a $1 million grant to build Black homeowner equity in the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood. The grant was issued to Renew Indianapolis to support a program that helps build generational wealth while also addressing gentrification in historically Black neighborhoods. Twelve new homes will be constructed and the program will fund mortgages to low-income homebuyers.
