INDIANAPOLIS — The Assessment and Intervention Center (AIC) has been designated LEED Silver, making it the first city-owned certified green building in Indianapolis. The AIC is a core piece of the city’s criminal justice reform efforts within the larger Community Justice Campus (CJC), currently under construction in the Twin-Aire neighborhood on English and Southeastern.
The AIC is operated by Eskenazi Health and provides around the clock referrals and intake for people experiencing addiction and mental health issues. It is estimated that as many as 40% of the county’s inmates have been diagnosed with mental health issues, and almost 85% have addiction problems.
LEED — Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design — Silver certification indicates that the building meets energy efficiency standards, and has environment-friendly components.
