INDIANAPOLIS — The Marion County Public Health Department recently kicked off an ad campaign focused on encouraging residents ages 18-39 to get their COVID-19 vaccine and get back to their favorite activities. This age group has consistently made up more than 40% of new COVID-19 cases in Marion County over recent weeks and continues to have a lower vaccination rate than older age groups.
The campaign features ads running on social media and through Google beginning Monday, as well as on several of the digital billboards in the city.
Additionally, the Health Department has worked with community partners over recent weeks to be able to provide incentives for vaccination that include a $250 Simon Mall gift card. Additional incentives, including tickets to The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, a gift package from the Indianapolis Zoo, and four tickets to an Indianapolis Colts game complete with a signed Peyton Manning jersey, will be announced over the coming weeks. Residents can follow the Marion County Public Health Department’s social media channels for updates.
Those with unanswered questions or concerns about the vaccine can call the Health Department vaccine hotline at 317-221-2100 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. To schedule an appointment, visit ourshot.in.gov or call 211.
It is important to not skip the second dose if receiving the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines — vaccine-induced protection is much stronger and longer-lasting after the second dose. It is normal to feel some side effects after receiving the vaccine, which can include a fever, chills, tiredness, headache, or aching at the injection site. These side effects are signs that your body is building protection and typically go away in 24-48 hours.
