INDIANAPOLIS — Mayor Joe Hogsett issued a call for nominations for the 2021 Mayor’s Community Service Awards. An Indianapolis tradition for nearly 30 years, the award recognizes and honors community members who volunteer their time and talents towards the betterment of Indianapolis and those who call it home.
The 2021 awards will be the third round presented by Mayor Hogsett and will recognize volunteers who have completed their service between March 2019 and March 2021. The Mayor’s Community Service Awards were first introduced in 1992 by former Mayor Stephen Goldsmith.
In June, Mayor Hogsett will recognize award recipients at a special ceremony at the Indianapolis Artsgarden. Following tradition, each recipient’s name will be engraved on individual bricks and added to the Mayor’s Volunteer Plaza located in the 11th Street Admiral Spruance Basin on the Indianapolis Canal Walk.
Indianapolis-Marion County Residents can be nominated in one of the following categories: Arts, Education, Business, Faith-Based Organizations, Accessibility and Inclusion, Elderly, Health Care, Media, Neighborhood, Philanthropy, Sports, and Youth Services.
