Streets Around Justice Center to be Rehabbed

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Board of Public Works has awarded a $9.2 million contract to White Construction, LLC for structural rehabilitation of streets around the City’s new Community Justice Campus (CJC) in the Twin Aire neighborhood on the city’s near east side.
This project includes a two-lane roundabout at the Southeastern Avenue and Rural Street intersection as well as structural rehabilitation of Southeastern Avenue and other surrounding streets.
Additional sidewalks and ADA ramps, a multi-use path along Southeastern Avenue and west of Pleasant Run Parkway, and bike lanes on Southeastern Avenue east of Pleasant Run Parkway will be installed to enhance neighborhood connectivity. The design team also incorporated a low-maintenance landscape strip between the curb and the sidewalk for pedestrian safety and to assist the visually impaired.
During construction, traffic may see detours and lane restrictions. Southeastern Avenue will remain open to traffic at all times.
Following utility relocation, construction is expected to begin in April or May. Substantial completion of the CJC main entrance on Pleasant Run Parkway is expected by mid-October 2021. All road construction, including the roundabout, is expected to be completed in Summer 2022.
