CUMBERLAND — The themes of justice, poverty, freedom, and love will be explore at Cumberland First Baptist Church during throughout Lent. “The Grace of Les isérables” is the basis of the Lenten Study Series at Cumberland First Baptist Church, 116 S. Muessing St., Cumberland. It begins Friday, March 6, 6:30 p.m., with a free showing of the movie and continues Sundays (March 8 – April 26) at 11:15 a.m.
The study uses a book by author and pastor Matt Rawle, who draws parallels between the six ideals found in the story — grace, justice, poverty, revolution, love and hope — to the Christian calling and the living out of faith in the world. Fans of Les Misérables know the power of the story, and people who are not familiar it will likely be inspired by how the imperfect and relatable characters interact and how the six ideals work together out in the world.
