• Young Actors Theatre will put on an original production, Love Over Dose, created by Justin Wade, at the Athenaeum at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, and Saturday, Feb. 15. • Storytelling Arts of Indiana is hosting the fourth Indy Story Slam of its 2019-20 regular season and the first of the new year on Wednesday, Feb. 19 from 7:00-8:30 p.m., in partnership with Garfield Park Arts Center and WFYI. Storytellers are asked to base their stories on the theme, “Alone or Lonely,” which can be interpreted narrowly or broadly. The stories just have to be true, told in first-person and up to five minutes long. Prizes will be awarded to the top three tellers. The slam will be held at GPAC, 2432 Conservatory Dr. Tickets are $10 at the door.

• If you watched the Oscars, or heard about it afterward, there was a big upset win for Best Picture. If you attended Heartland Film Festival, you had a chance to see “Parasite,” one of 15 films featured at HIFF in the “Best International Feature Film Oscar Contenders” program. The program in its third year featured titles just confirmed as their country’s respective entry for the Academy Awards. Among the 15 titles programmed, three were eventually nominated by the Academy, including “Honeyland” and “Pain and Glory.” HIFF plans to expand the category to 30 titles in 2020 and will be among the first festival destinations in the world to showcase the newly-announced films at the 29th HIFF (Oct. 8-18).
