INDIANAPOLIS — In Apples in Winter, Jan Lucas gives a powerful performance that will linger in your thoughts and heart long after you leave the Theatre. She prepares and bakes her homemade apple pie in real time, live on stage. Its a cooking lesson with a comforting aroma and Jan portrays the conflict between her love and anger with impact and precision.
Told through humor and heartache, laughter and tears, Apples in Winter speaks to all of us through its poignant simplicity. This captivating one-woman show takes us on a breathtaking emotional roller coaster to explore all the many emotions we encounter on our journeys with those we’ve tried to love unconditionally. This not-to-be-missed production is part of a rolling world premiere supported by the National New Play Network, of which Phoenix Theatre is a core member. NNPN’s central mission is to encourage and support the nurturing of new plays for the American stage.
Playwright Jennifer Fawcett expresses unconditional love in this script so beautifully written. Phoenix favorite Jolene Mentink Moffatt directs this beautifully poignant one-act drama on the intimate Frank & Katrina Basile Stage.
