INDIANAPOLIS — On Sept. 22, the Midwest Regional Political Collectors Convention (Button-Con 2018) will be held at the La Quinta Inns & Suites South in Beech Grove, 5120 Victory Dr. A nation-wide group of collectors and dealers of political memorabilia will spend the weekend buying, selling, trading, and discussing this growing hobby.
Americana, advertising and other similar collectibles will be included for candidates from George Washington through the hotly contested 2018 Election. Dealers will be open to the public in their guest rooms for “room hopping” to buy and sell during the afternoons and evenings of Thursday Sept. 20 and Friday, Sept. 21.
At 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, a show of over 75 tables will open. Admission is $3 with free parking. Beginning at 11 a.m., the general public will have the opportunity to have their items appraised, and if they wish, sold on the spot at auction to the highest bidder. There have been many instances of people walking into the show with a box of “Dad’s Old Buttons” only to walk back out with hundreds or thousands of dollars.
