LAWRENCE — The hit musical Godspell will be presented by Fat Turtle Theatre Company and Arts for Lawrence on Aug. 4-12. Shows on Saturdays will be at 7:30 p.m., Sundays at 2:30 p.m., and a show on Thursday, Aug. 9 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available pre-sale on Brown Paper Tickets for $15, or $20 at the door. Theatre at the Fort is located at 8920 Otis Ave. in Lawrence.
Godspell was the first major musical by award-winner Stephen Schwartz, featuring hits like “Day by Day,” and “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord.” The show involves a small group of people help Jesus tell different parables by using many different techniques and a dose of comic timing. The show dissolves into the touching Last Supper and Crucifixion, telling the story of Jesus’ messages of kindness, tolerance, and love.
