• The Auxiliary to Community Hospital East will sponsor a Masquerade $5 Jewelry and Accessories “Around the Clock Sale” in the breezeway near the main lobby Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. to Nov. 3 at 3 p.m. Proceeds will benefit hospital programs/services. • The recycling drop-off sites located at Franklin Township Community Park at 8801 Edgewood Dr. and the Indy Island Aquatic Center at 8425 E. Raymond St. have moved to a new location. Two recycling bins have been located in the parking lot of the new Kroger location at 8130 East Southport Rd.
• Old prescription medications can be dropped of at select IFD locations Oct. 28 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. IMPD officers will be staffing the take-back programs at Station 2, 4120 Mitthoeffer Rd.,; Station 23, 1108 E. Thompson Rd.; Station 27 at 2918 E. 10th St. This is part of the DEA’s drug diversion program.
• NEAR will host an informational meeting on The Teacher’s Village, a cluster of 20 homes on Rural from 10th to St. Clair earmarked for teachers, on Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. at the Center for Community Development, 2807 E. 10th St. (10th and Rural). Individuals interested in learning more about this opportunity are encouraged to attend.
• A new partnership with NEAR, the Arts Council of Indianapolis, and the City of Indianapolis will work creatively with near eastside residents to address public safety concerns. Indy East Art Peace will bring together IMPD officers, artists, and community members in creative placemaking, using art to improve neighborhoods, connect people, engender conversations, and inspire new ways to prevent crime. • On Nov. 17 from 3-5 p.m. at the The Platform, 202 E. Market, EmployIndy and LISC Indianapolis will discuss a new strategic plan for partnerships with employers and workforce development. The event is free and open to the public; beer and pretzels will be provided.
• Central Christian Church will present a chamber music recital on Sun., Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. Jeff Nelsen, formerly of the Canadian Brass, is a Professor of French Horn at Indiana University. He will join Roger Roe and Kent Cook in a program of duos and trios by Schubert, Kahn, Reinecke, Menotti and Nelhybel. Concert admission is free, but donations will be accepted. CCC is located at 701 N Delaware.
