INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Repertory Theatre (IRT) kicks off 2017 with Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, a blockbuster production which debuts on the OneAmerica Mainstage from Jan. 10 through Feb. 4 before travelling east to Geva Theatre Center in Rochester, New York.
Set in 1967, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner follows two sets of parents as they learn their children have fallen in love with someone of a difference race.
Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner emphasizes “family style” in every possible way — from a mid-century modern set which serves as the backdrop as two families meet for the first time, to flattering 60’s-era clothing that reflects each character’s consideration of the occasion and how they hope to impress the family of their child’s significant other.
The nine cast members, whose credits include Prison Break, The Bold and The Beautiful and appearances on Broadway, come together in a culture-clashing, family-testing, witty and thoughtful drama that asks: can love really conquer all?
Tickets start at $25, visit irtlive.com for more information.
The IRT is located at 140 W Washington St. The show is recommended for patrons in 9th grade and older, due to strong language, including racially charged dialogue.
