Don Gummer’s “Back Home Again” Exhibit on the Cultural Trail

INDIANAPOLIS — Don Gummer: Back Home Again is an exhibition of eight sculptures by Indianapolis native, New York based artist Don Gummer. Located on the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, downtown Indianapolis, the exhibit runs from Aug. 31, 2016 to Aug. 7, 2017.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky in 1946, Don Gummer moved to Indianapolis at age seven. He graduated from Ben Davis High School. He attended the Herron School of Art in Indianapolis before moving to Boston to study at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. He went on to Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, where he completed both his Bachelor of Fine Art and his Masters of Fine Arts in 1973. Gummer’s work can be found in collections around the world. Gummer and his wife, Meryl Streep, have been married for 38 years and have four children.
Eight large sculptures temporarily installed in downtown Indianapolis. Materials include steel, bronze, aluminum, and glass. This is Gummer’s first major outdoor exhibition in Indianapolis. It represents a broad cross-section of his work spanning more than 20 years of his career.
