• The Eastgate Neighborhood Association will meet April 5 at 7 p.m. at the Warren Government Center, 501 N. Post Rd. Special guests include State Rep. Cindy Kirchofer, Mayor’s Liaison Karen Lightbourne, and more. Residents and business owners in the Eastgate neighborhood are encouraged to attend.
• It is almost safe to plant cool weather flowers and vegetables. The Indiana Bicentennial Commission and Garden Club of Indiana is encouraging everyone to show the state’s “true colors” — blue and gold — by planting blue and gold flowers in the landscape.
• With warmer weather, potholes are springing up (pardon the expression) like weeds. If you come across a crater, call the Mayor’s Action Center at 317-327-4622 or go online to RequestIndy or get the free app on your smartphone.
• Looking to do a little road trip? Check out the Model T Museum in Richmond, Indiana. The Model T Museum is open Tues.-Sun. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 309 N. 8th St., Richmond in the Historic Depot District. It features an impressive collection of vehicles including one of the first Ts and one of the last, a Pietenpol airplane, T-related memorabilia, reference materials and an extensive gift shop which includes copies of John Butte’s recently released book, “Darlene’s Silver Streak and The Bradford Model T Girls.” For more information call the Model T Museum at 765-488-0026.
• Children of all ages and families are invited to hear members of the Indiana Pacers read their favorite stories in children’s literature during “Call-a-Pacer” on The Indianapolis Public Library’s 24-hour Call-a-Story telephone line. By dialing 275-4444, or toll-free at 877-275-9007, listeners will hear recorded stories from Pacers players who demonstrate their love of reading as a way to encourage young ones to “read like a pro.” The 2016 “Call-a-Pacer” schedule includes: Week of April 4 – C.J. Miles reads “The Story of Wolverine” by Thomas Macri, April 11 – Mark Boyle reads “10 Rules of Being a Superhero” by Deb PiLutti, and April 18 – Glenn Robinson III reads “The Invincible Iron Man” by Billy Wrecks. Each week, a new Pacer and story will be featured.
• The Phoenix Theater will host the world premiere of Leyenda April 14-May 1. Leyenda is a live adaptation of Latino folk tales based on interviews with members of the Indianapolis Latino community. There will be performances in English and Spanish. Tickets are $27 per person on Thurs., and Sun., $33 per person on Fri. and Sat., and $20 for anyone 21 & under. During CheapSeats Weekend, April 14-17, all tickets are $20.The final two performances of Leyenda (April 30, May 1) will be in Spanish. All tickets for these two Spanish performances will be $20.
