INDIANAPOLIS — Damien Center, Indiana’s oldest and largest organization leading the effort to prevent the spread of HIV, will join community partners across Indianapolis to recognize National HIV Testing Day on Friday, June 26, through a coordinated, multi-site testing and outreach initiative.
In collaboration with several local organizations and public health partners, Damien Center will participate in a large-scale effort offering free HIV testing and outreach services from noon to 7 p.m. at four locations throughout Indianapolis, including:
• Walgreens – 3003 W. Kessler Blvd. N. Dr., Indianapolis
• Walgreens – 1530 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis
• Brookside Community Church – 1035 N. Olney St., Indianapolis
• Indiana Discount Mall – 3585 Commercial Dr., Indianapolis
The initiative aims to expand access to testing, connect individuals to care and prevention services, and reduce stigma through community-wide engagement.
In addition to its participation in the broader citywide initiative, Damien Center will offer free HIV testing at its headquarters, located at 1420 E. Washington St. throughout the day. To encourage early participation, the first 20 individuals who receive an HIV test at Damien Center on June 26 will receive a complimentary 16-ounce beverage and a baked good or pastry from Cafe Oztara, Damien Center’s workforce development café located at 1446 E. Washington St., Indianapolis. Participants must arrive for testing by 2 p.m. to qualify.
Damien Center will also provide free gonorrhea and chlamydia testing for individuals who come in for HIV testing at its site, supporting a comprehensive approach to sexual health and wellness.
