IRVINGTON — The Irvington Community Council and the Historic Irvington Halloween Festival recently announced the recipients of the 2025 Founder’s Awards. The awards are presented during the Historic Halloween Festival, which will be held Oct. 18-25. The award is given to individuals, organizations, and businesses making significant contributions to the overall quality of life in Irvington.
For her years of work with the Irvington Development Organization and for helping to make the community what it is today, the Council recognizes Margaret Banning.
For her generosity to the community and for continuing the tradition of Irvington as a community of artists, the Council recognizes Dee Banta.
For his work on behalf of the Irvington Community Council, the Halloween Festival, and his tireless activism on many neighborhood issues, the Council recognizes Aaron Hacker.
For their decades of business and advocacy on behalf of all Irvington small business owners, the Council recognizes Sam and Melissa Smith, owners of George Thomas Florist.
For her generosity and giving to the community and its children, the Council recognizes Lori Steuer of Irvington United Methodist Church.
The year’s awards will be presented Sunday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center. Awardees will receive a personalized award from Irvington artist Daric Kindle. The public is invited to attend. There will also be an art show featuring local artists.
