LAWRENCE — Pathways Resource Center will hold the annual Far Eastside Peace Walk on Saturday, Aug. 9 beginning at 10 a.m. at C.A.F.E, 8902 E. 38th St. There will be a press conference at 10:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 11 a.m. The walk ends at the Pathway Resource Center, 10119 John Marshall Dr. The walk is co-sponsored by Indiana State Senator La Keisha Jackson.
The mission of the walk is to bring community together to stand with youth for peace, healing, and safety in the neighborhood. This year’s theme centers on bringing awareness to the rise in youth gun violence and creating real pathways to healing and opportunity.
After the walk, there will be a Youth Against Guns Community Day from noon-3 p.m. at the Pathway Resource Center grounds. There will be free food trucks, music and live entertainment, grocery giveaways and local vendors, raffles, games, and activities for all ages.
