New Animal Care Services Director Named

INDIANAPOLIS — Amanda Dehoney-Hinkle was recently appointed the Director of Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS). The appointment is effective beginning July 21.
She is an accomplished and passionate animal welfare professional with over 15 years of leadership experience in municipal shelter operations and animal control. For the past nine years, she has served as the Superintendent for Greenfield-Hancock Animal Management.
Amanda began her career in animal welfare at IACS. During her six years at IACS, she rose to Deputy Chief of Kennel Operations and served as Interim Director. She brings to the role firsthand experience of running the state’s busiest animal welfare facility, from overseeing daily functions of the shelter to policy implementation and community outreach.
Amanda holds numerous certifications in shelter medicine, disaster response, animal handling, and leadership, including from the ASPCA, FEMA, and the University of Florida’s Maddie’s Shelter Medicine Program. She is also a certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, demonstrating her commitment to continuous growth as a leader.
Outside of her work, Amanda lives with her husband and their blended family of six kids, two dogs, and a cat. Her passion for animals and dedication to public service guide her both her personal and professional life.
