• Kingsley Terrace Church is sponsoring a Walk for the Homeless event at Washington Park, 3130 E. 30th St. on Saturday, May 17 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Everyone is invited to participate.
• The Benton House will hold a Spring Makers Market on Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the historic home at 312 S. Downey. There will be 30 vendors, hosted by Black Cat Curio. Check out the jewelry, artwork, ceramics, crochet, crystals, antiques, crafts and curios. Support local artisans!
• Franciscan Health is hosting a weekly farmer’s market on Wednesdays from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Franciscan medical office at 5230 E. Stop 11, across the street from the hospital. The market will run weekly beginning June 4 through Sept. 24.
• Indiana voters can expect a postcard from the Secretary of State’s Election Division as part of statewide voter registration list maintenance. You’ll be asked if you are the addressee on the card, and if you are, no further action is needed. However, if you are not the addressee, write “Return to Sender” on the front of the card and drop it in the mail.
• Horizon House is hosting “Undy 500” throughout the month of May. They are seeking donations of new underwear for the people experiencing homelessness they serve. Located at 1033 E. Washington, drop off donations of new underwear, socks, and toiletries or you can send them items from their Amazon Wish List at amazon.com and search for Horizon House.
• Community Heights will have the First Annual Neighborhood Block Party on Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Pando Aspen Grove, 5626 E. 16th St. Swing by and meet your neighbors for a casual and fun event.
• There will be a native plant sale at Irvington Community Elementary School on Saturday, May 17 from 10 a..m.-1 p.m. Redbird120 Gardening and Native Plants Unlimited will provide native plants, and the ICES Master Gardeners will have the Demonstration Gardens open for self-guided tours. There will be qualified gardeners on hand to answer questions. The school is located at 6705 E. Julian Ave.
• The James Whitcomb Riley Museum House is hosting a Antiques Appraisals and Marketplace on Saturday, June 7 at 10 a.m.-4 p.m. You will need a timed ticket from eventbrite.com to get an appraisal ($23.18 with eventbrite fees). There is no need for a ticket to enter the Museum Home grounds that day — there will be antiques and art for sale on the lawn. Food trucks will be on site in the afternoon. Get tickets early, as this event may sell out.
• Fifty people showed up to spruce up Irving Circle park on May 10, and 10 people helped clean up Irvington along E. Washington St. Congratulations to the volunteers and organizers who are making a difference in the community.
