INDIANAPOLIS — The exit ramp from northbound I-65 to Keystone Avenue is scheduled to close on or after Saturday, May 17, to allow for ramp reconstruction. The ramp is expected to remain closed through late August.
As construction begins on the I-65 Safety and Efficiency project, I-65 will be reduced to two lanes in each direction from north of the I-465 interchange to just south of the I-65/I-70 overpass.
Lane restrictions are expected to begin on or after Saturday, May 17, and remain in place through the end of 2026. Crews are constructing added travel lanes. By the end of 2026, there will be four travel lanes in each direction throughout the corridor.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use alternate routes, when possible.
I-65 Safety and Efficiency will extend the life of existing pavement, and the added capacity will improve traffic flow and safety in southeast Indianapolis.
The construction zone speed limit is now active on I-65. A reduced speed of 45 mph is in place for the duration of I-65 Safety and Efficiency work. It is important for drivers to slow down and avoid distractions in work zones.
