• Coffee with a Cop will be held Wednesday, April 30 from 9-10 a.m. at Rabble Coffee, 2119 E. 10th St. This is a chance to meet local IMPD officers in a casual environment to voice concerns in the community.
• The Battle of the Badges 2025: Annual Hockey Game at Pop Weaver Youth Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds will be held on Saturday, April 26. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the puck will drop at 6 p.m. for an evening of thrilling hockey action and family fun as firefighters and police square off on the ice. • The Beech Grove High School FFA will host a Greenhouse Plant Sale on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the High School, 5330 Hornet Ave. Prices are $5 for 4” pots and 3” cell packs and hanging baskets are $20. Cash and credit cards are accepted.
• There will be a clean-up at the Kile Oak on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m.-noon. The Kile Oak is a massive bur oak estimated to be 300-400 years old and is a landmark in Irvington, located at 5939 Beechwood Ave. Tools will be provided by Indiana Arborist Association who will direct volunteers on how to minimize risk to the Kile Oak. If you volunteer, please wear proper work attire, including closed-toe shoes with thick soles and long sleeves. Be advised there is poison ivy on the property.
• The Benton House Egg-Stravaganza has been rescheduled to Saturday, April 26 at 1 p.m. after being washed out on April 19. Kids can hunt for treat filled eggs on the historic grounds of the Benton House, 312 Downey Ave. Get there early, as the eggs won’t last long.
• District Theatre will host “Seeds of Freedom” by the Asante Art Institute of Indianapolis on Friday, April 25 at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27 at 4 p.m. Through spoken word, dance, and music, the story of the spiritual roots of the Civil Rights Movement are explored. Tickets are $20 and available on the Web site, indydistricttheatre.vbotickets.com/events. The District Theatre is located at 627 Massachusetts Ave.
• Friends of Indianapolis Dogs Outside (FIDO) has partnered with Indianapolis Humane Society for Operation Pit Stop, a program focused on fighting pet overpopulation by providing free spay/neuter surgeries, vaccines, and microchips for large breed dogs, especially bully breeds. It costs $195 for one spay/neuter surgery, and their goal is to raise $20,000 to fix 100 dogs. To donate, visit indyhumane.org/operation-pit-stop
