INDIANAPOLIS — Construction on the Henry Street Bridge will now begin on the east bank of the White River as the project moves into its next phase.
Indianapolis Department of Public Works (Indy DPW) archaeology consultant, Stantec, has notified the State Historic Preservation Office that archaeological work on the east bank of the White River is complete, allowing bridge construction to begin in that area soon. Archaeology crews will continue the excavation process as they move eastward toward Kentucky Avenue.
Stantec began its archaeological investigation within the Henry Street right-of-way on the east side of the White River in November.
Stantec’s work within the overall 1.5 acres of Henry Street right-of-way is approximately 20 percent complete and will continue until the entire area has been excavated.
