• Indy East Promise Zone will be hosting an Earth Day Clean-up along Pleasant Run on Saturday, April 19 starting at 9 a.m. The work will be along the southeast and east sides. To participate, visit kibi.org/volunteer/projects and select a time and place.
• Grassy Creek Regional Park, 10510 E 30th St,, has received a major upgrade and will officially celebrate its grand reopening on Earth Day, Tuesday, April 22 in a special celebration. The 240-acre park now features a splash pad, a new state-of-the-art playground, and a comfort station with restrooms. The Grassy Creek Environmental Community Center, a first-of-its-kind hub for environmental education in Indy, will also be open to the community.
• Indianapolis chef Collin Hilton was named the 2025 World Food Champion in Bentonville, Arkansas recently. He is the Chef de Cuisine for the Cunningham Restaurant Group. Next year, Indianapolis will host the competition at the Indiana State Fairgrounds March 29-30.
• Bill Price, Sarah Grain, and Greg Ziesemer will perform music inspired by nature with proceeds to benefit the Hoosier Environmental Council and Earth Charter Indiana. The show will be on Saturday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Roberts United Methodist Church, 401 Delaware St. Admission is $20, and refreshments will be available.
• Beastside Brewfest is just around the corner (April 26), and this event usually sells out, so don’t delay getting your tickets. Local breweries compete for the Beast trophy, and proceeds from the event go to support Howe Middle School arts projects and the Tri-Kappa East sorority college scholarship fund. Tickets are $35 online, available at ontaptickets.com (search for Beastside Brewfest). Admission includes unlimited samples, a comemmorative pint glass and great music by Roughouse.
• First Friday arts events will take place at several hubs, including Irvington, the Factory Arts District at 1125 Brookside Ave., the Harrison Center at 1505 N. Delaware, and 10 East Arts at 2301 E. 10th St. Most studios will be open from 6-9 p.m. With spring here, maybe you’d like to find a nice piece of art by local talent for your space.
• The District Theatre will present a comedy series exposing the absurdity of workplace culture and chaos. The second installment will be “Annoying Co-workers” on Friday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. The show is part stand-up, part real-life audience confessions, and more. Tickets are $15 and available online at indydistricttheatre.com
• The Nora and Pike branches of the Indianapolis Public Library are now open. There were a lot of renovations and improvements made. The Nora branch is located at 8625 Guilford, and the Pike branch is at 6575 Zionsville Rd.
