INDIANAPOLIS — Indy Parks recently broke ground on a $3 million project at Tarkington Park. The project will include a new multi-use football and soccer field, a walking path, and new pickleball and tennis courts. Funding for the project comes from a $80 million Lilly Endowment Grant to Indy Parks which is part of the $140 million being invested in Indy Parks amenities. This project is the first of three projects kicking off Indy Parks’ 2025 construction season.
Later, work will begin at Chapel Hill Park, just south of Ben Davis High School and sits next to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. The park will be receiving a $2 million investment from the Lilly Endowment to replace the playground, upgrade the basketball court and baseball field, add pickleball courts, a splash pad, and a comfort station.
Franklin Township Community Park will also see improvements in 2025. The 99-acre park will see construction of a new playground, shelter, hardcourts, and paving of the existing nature trail.
