INDIANAPOLIS — Join us to help celebrate as Franklin Road turns 25 on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The celebration will include a family storytime, a presentation on the history of the Branch, music from the Franklin Central Orchestra ensembles, a scavenger hunt, and more. The library is located at 5550 S. Franklin Rd.
Following years of volunteer-staffed service in an empty church building, a permanent library serving Franklin Township, the Wanamaker Branch, opened in 1969 on Southeastern Avenue. To meet the needs of a rapidly growing township, the branch was replaced in 2000 by the current 18,000-square-foot Franklin Road Branch.
The anniversary schedule includes:
• Family Storytime from 10:30 – 11 a.m.
• Face Painting from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
• Digital Indy History Presentation from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Learn about the history of IndyPL and Franklin Road during this presentation from Digital Indy.
Throughout the event, enjoy music from Franklin Central Orchestra ensembles, a scavenger hunt, and more activities for the whole family.
