• When you go to the Irvington Luminaria on Sunday, Dec. 22, the Irving Circle Park on S. Audubon will be hosting Santa, Krampus, and the Ghostbusters crew for photo ops. Bring a canned good for the Big Red Box Project for the needy in our community. The Luminaria will take place from 6-9 p.m.
• Cumberland First Baptist Church will hold two special events marking the holidays. On Saturday, Dec. 21 from 6-8, there will be a “Journey into the Light” with reflection and prayer service at 6:30 p.m. and an illuminated outside Labyrinth walk from 6-8 p.m. to mark the longest night of the year. On Christmas Eve, they invite everyone to a Candlelight Christmas Eve on Tuesday, Dec. 24 at 7 p.m. when there will be lessons and carols, and readings. Cumberland First Baptist Church is location at 116 S. Muessing St. in Cumberland.
• The Irish pub Snug, located at 210 S. Audubon Road, will be one year old! They have been a great addition to the Irvington, and very supportive of the community. They will be offering $5 drafts, trivia, live music and food trucks from noon to 11 p.m. Dec. 30. Celebrations will continue the following day with a whiskey bottle release event.
• The Indiana State Museum, located at 650 W. Washington St.will host a family friendly New Year’s Eve party on Tuesday, Dec. 31 from 6-8:30 p.m. This alcohol free event will feature a DJ and dance party, face painting, and lots of fun activities. Admission is $18 per person and must be made in advance. Visit indianamuseum.org for more information and to make reservations.
• Greenfield’s Riley Art Trail, running from Riley Ave., North St., and East St./ American Legion Place will be a .7 mile multi-use trail loop through the town, starting and ending at the Pennsy Trail. There will be interpretive panels, and the poetry of James Whitcomb Riley etched in the trail so users can read his work while on a walk. Big shade trees will be planted as well. The city hopes to complete construction by July 2025.
• If you live in Lawrence, financial help is available through the Lawrence Township Trustee’s Office. If you are in need of emergency assistance, apply for help by visiting the office in person at 4455 McCoy St. or visit the Web site www.lawtwp.org. • Heidelberg Haus Cafe and Bakery, an institution on the east side, recently celebrated their 56th anniversary! It is a unique place that is always busy, but is THE place for all things German. They are located at 7625 Pendelton Pike.
