For the past several years, a group of talented artisans and crafters have gathered in the garden at 5295 E. Pleasant Run Parkway South Drive to sell their works. This year, they will be having the event on Saturday, Nov. 2 from noon-4 p.m. (raindate is Sunday, Nov. 3).
Paintings, jewelry, knitwear, bags, purses, unique long needle pine baskets, holiday ornaments, and much more will be for sale. This year, Buck Creek Pottery will be there, with the multi-talented Cathy Schlebecker. Cathy and her husband lived for a time in the D.C. Stephenson house on University in Irvington, but moved out to the far-far eastside, where they have expanded their business on a larger patch so they could build a wood-fired kiln and have a larger workspace. She has a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Herron School of Art and a Master’s in Art from the University of Indianapolis, and teaches classes at their pottery studio on their property. She teaches classes for adults and children. Visit buckcreekpottery.org to sign up for her classes.
Cathy loves working in clay, creating functional and beautiful works using a variety of techniques. She takes her inspiration from natural textures and forms, creating useful everyday items. You can see her work and sign up for classes at buckcreekpottery.org
An Artist Gathering gives the community a unique opportunity to actually meet the craftspeople they are buying from, and to enjoy a day among them.
