INDIANAPOLIS — The 2024 Irvington Halloween Festival features an event that is anything but scary: a Wellness Fair sponsored by Irvington Presbyterian Church and the Irvington Halloween Festival Committee.
You’ll find free, easy access to health screenings, flu shots, HIV testing and other health-related services at the Halloween Festival Wellness Fair on Saturday, October 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Irvington Presbyterian Church, 55 Johnson Ave.
The Wellness Fair will be easy to find in the parking lot behind the Irvington Library, where Community East Hospital, Jane Pauley Community Health Center, FSSA, CICOA, the Indianapolis Fire Department, Overdose Lifeline, Irvington churches and others are coming together to provide a long menu of free services.
Besides flu shots and screenings, you can access mental health services and learn about the prevention and treatment of a variety of conditions, such as stroke, diabetes, heart failure and others. You can also learn about wound care, maternity services, elder care, gun safety, nutrition, chiropractic care and fire safety. And you can sign up for volunteer opportunities at Community East Hospital and register for the Vampire Run.
New this year, will be an Over the Counter/Prescription Drug Take Back. Bring your expired and no longer needed medications to have them disposed of safely. There will be giveaways of bike helmets, smoke detectors, fire blankets and first aid kits. And don’t forget to register to give the lifesaving gift of blood by donating at the Versiti mobile unit.
“We hope our Irvington neighbors will take advantage of this opportunity to find a variety of health services and preventive health information all in one place. There will be something for everyone!” said Kathy Moorhead, the leader of the Justice Advocacy Team at Irvington Presbyterian Church.
