• The Irvington Farmers Market will be held Sunday, Sept. 8 from noon-3 p.m. Check out all the fresh produce, baked goods, and vendor booths at Ellenberger Park, 5301 E. St. Clair. There will also be live music. Looks like the weather is going to be beautiful, so we’ll see you there!
• A Jazz for Jesus (and gospel, too!) Concert will be held Sunday, Sept. 8 from 6-8 p.m. at Greenfield Christian Church, 23 N. East St. in Greenfield. Kenny Phelps of Kenny Phelps Production will be joined by accomplished musicians for the free concert in the sanctuary. Afterwards, there will be refreshments and an exhibit of artwork from their recent Faith Formation workshop, “Nearer to God Through Art.” For more information, call 317-462-6348
• There will be a live conversation with Helen Hunt following a screening of the movie Twister at the Old National Centre in Indianapolis Sept. 29at 7:30 p.m. The Old National Centre in Downtown Indianapolis is located at 502 N New Jersey St. Tickets are on sale now and available at www.oldnationalcentre.com. Prices are $29.95 to $79.95 for normal tickets then a $179.95 VIP Meet & Greet (plus applicable fees).
• This First Friday, Sept. 6, will also be the grand opening for Magpie Artspace at 206 S. Audubon in Irvington. The opening will run 5-10 p.m. A month of fun will follow with painting and pastries, workshops and classes, art networking and more. The Irvington First Friday events include tarot readings at Hampton & Company, events at Market Vintage, Irving Theatre, the Snug, and Monsterz Inc., and many shops and restaurants within walking distance.
• The St. Joan of Arc French Market will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7 from noon-10 p.m. at the church, 4217 N. Central Ave. The market is free, but there will be a lot of French food, wine, and much more available for purchase. They will say Mass in French at 5:30 p.m.
• Starry Nights at the Fort will present a free screening of the classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Fort Ben Cultural Campus, 8950 Otis Ave. There will be food trucks and popcorn available for purchase. Bring your chair or a cozy blanket for the outdoor show.
• With cooler weather, you might want to get out to discover unique things about Indianapolis. Indiana Landmarks will host a Downtown Safari Walking Tour on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. starting at 55 E. Michigan St. Tourgoers will investigate the exteriors of multiple landmarks around the city on foot. You need to register in advance at indianalandmarks.org. Tickets cost $10 for the general public. They have other tours as well, including Herron-Morton Place neighborhood tour, (Sept. 14), and Notable and Notorious (Sept. 25).
• The annual Coats for Kids program is open. Go to any Classic Cleaners location with gently used coats for children through Oct. 19 and help out families that can’t afford coats for their kids.
