INDIANAPOLIS — The IMPO has released a Vulnerable Road User (VRU) Crash Dashboard. This dashboard shows crashes involving bicycles and/or pedestrians. The data consists of pedestrian and cyclist crashes from ARIES (Automated Reporting Information Exchange System) that have had their location reviewed and corrected for accuracy from eight counties in Central Indiana (Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Marion, Morgan, & Shelby).
The main IMPO Crash Dashboard shows fatal and incapacitating crashes, while the VRU Crash Dashboard shows all pedestrian Bike crashes from ARIES.
Tracking and reporting this data is an important step to make progress on the goals of Vision Zero, a program that aims to reduce traffic fatalities.
You can find both Crash Dashboards on the IMPO Data Portal at https://data-indympo.hub.arcgis.com/
