Before Irvington with the Twigh Twee Singers of the Miami Nation

IRVINGTON — The Irvington Historical Society will present an evening with the Twigh Twee Singers of the Miama Nation of Indiana on Friday, Aug. 9 from 6-8  p.m. at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center, 5350 University Ave. The program is free, but a donation would be appreciated.
The performance is an opportunity to learn about the First Nations culture that originally lived in the area. The Twigh Twee Singers play traditional Miami drum songs and are storytellers. The Twigh Twee is the Miami Nation of Indiana tribal drum, brought out for spiritual tribal functions.
The performance coincides with the Irvington Historical Society’s current display of Lenape/Delaware culture and the Miami Nation that settled in the Indianapolis area. The exhibit is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4 p.m. at the Bona through Nov. 10.
