GREENWOOD — Franciscan Health will be hosting a Stop the Bleed class on Tuesday, August 13 and another on Wednesday, October 9. Both classes are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Franciscan Health Education Center at 421 N. Emerson in Greenwood.
Stop the Bleed teaches the skills needed to provide immediate bleeding control principles and aid until first responders arrive. The class is a combination of lecture and hands-on training meant to empower, train and equip the non-medical bystander in the critical first minutes after a trauma injury that causes bleeding until first responders can arrive.
Each participant receives professional training on blood loss techniques, a lecture by an expert in the field and information on how to obtain a bleeding control kit.
Participants completing the hands-on skills validation will receive a certificate of completion.
