Fourth of July in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS —  The city celebrates Independence Day with lots of activities for the whole family. The largest is Downtown Indy’s Fourth Fest from 6-11 p.m. at 111 Monument Circle. This is the second year for the festival, which is a street fair with music on the stage on North St. and food trucks, ice cream stands, beverages, and a Kids Zone on St. Clair St. and American Legion Mall. Fireworks begin just after 10 p.m. and the launch site will be at the 500 N. Meridian building. The best view of the fireworks will be at the Indiana War Memorial and the American Legion Mall. The event is free.

The Beech Grove Promoters Club sponsors “All American Day in the Park” on Wednesday, July 3 at the Sara T. Bolton Park from 5:30-after the fireworks at 10 p.m. The park, located at 1300 Churchman Ave., will have food vendors, entertainment, and offers a gathering place to meet up with friends and family. Admission is free. The event may be postponed if there is bad weather.

The City of Lawrence will hold is annual Fourth Fest on July 4 all day at Lawrence Community Park. There will be a parade at 10 a.n., car show, a fish fry from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m., followed by food vendors, music, and capped off with fireworks at 10 p.m. The event is free.

Fireworks and other events scheduled for July 4 may be postponed or cancelled due storms or other hazardous conditions.
