• Mariposas de Jade (Jade Butterflies) is a group exhibition of women artists of Latina heritage. This exhibition is curated by Gissela Montoya and Arte Mexicano en Indiana. The Mariposas de Jade exhibit will be on display from May 2 to June 3 in the Simon Room and Yellow Gallery at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair. The reception will take place on May 5 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Simon Room.
•The Original Farmer’s Market is relocating to Monument Circle on Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. They will share space with Spark as it returns this summer. The vendors will line the street offering fresh produce, cheeses, meats, baked goods and more.
• The City of Lawrence offers Tour Lawrence bike rentals at the Fort Ben Cultural Campus (8950 Otis Ave.) and at the Government Center (9001 E. 59th St.). The first hour is free with annual membership of $30 per year, or pay as you go for $3 an hour. Renting the bike also gets you free admission to Fort Harrison State Park. You will need to download the Movatic app and create an account on your phone to use the bikes.
• On Tuesday, May 7 at 6 p.m., Indiana Landmarks will host an illustrated discussion of Booth Tarkington’s Indianapolis with architectural historian Benjamin L. Ross. Tarkington, a Pulitzer winning author, was inspired by his hometown and the boom period of development. Tickets are $5 for the general public and free for Indiana Landmarks members. Doors open at 5:30 at 1201 N. Central Ave. and can be purchased online on their Web site, www.indianalandmarks.org or by calling 317-639-4534.
• Irvington Community Elementary School (ICES) has teamed up with Native Plants Unlimited for their first annual plant sale on Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at 6705 Julian Ave. While there, tour the school’s developing garden beds and compost heap. Native Plants staff will be on hand to answer your garden questions.
• INDOT is warning everyone that there will be lane restrictions all weekend on I-465 northbound between I-70 and Fall Creek Rd. Ramps will be closed on Pendleton, 56th St., and northbound traffic on I-465 will go through the northbound Shadeland CD ramp and back to 465. It will be a hot mess, so avoid the area and be prepared for traffic delays. The work will be put off another week if there is rain.
• First Friday looks like it will be great. On May 3 from 5-9, Irvington First Friday will feature Hampton Designs, 5515 E. Washington, Market Vintage and Monsterz Inc. on Johnson plus all sorts of fun throughout the commercial districts. The Harrison Center at 1505 N. Delaware will debut its annual Porch Party, along with some great art inside. Circle City Industrial Center at 1125 Brookside offers open studios in a huge space.
