• On Sunday, April 21 at 2 p.m. at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center, 5350 University Ave., Ed Fugawa, blogger, Attorney, runner, kayaker, history nerd, and author will discuss vanishing Indianapolis and how to identify sites in old photos. Admission is free, but donations to the Irvington Historical Society would be appreciated.
• The Central Indiana Orchid Society will hold their annual orchid show Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Garfield Park Conservatory, 2519 Garfield Plaza Dr. Admission is $6 per person or $14 for a family (maximum 2 adults). There will be displays of blooming orchids and orchids for sale.
• Irvington Development Organization will hold a Main Street cleanup of Washington St. between Ritter and Arlington on Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m.-noon. Meet at the library, 5625 E. Washington to get bags, gloves, and equipment. The goal is to pick up as much trash as possible.
• The new Eskenazi Health Thomas & Arlene Grande Campus will officially open Wednesday, April 17. The facility on the corner of Arlington and East 38th St. will bring more health care options to the east side, and will hopefully spur positive growth in the area.
• The Irvington Community Council monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 16 at 7 p.m. in the basement of the Irvington Presbyterian Church, 55 Johnson Ave. The meeting will be live-streamed on the Council’s Facebook page. • Pennsy Trails of Hancock County is asking for help in removing honeysuckle so they can lay down stone to expand the Pennsy further east. They will be having a cleanup on Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m.-noon, meeting at 424 S. 400 W. in Greenfield. • The Indiana Repertory Theatre presents their first musical in a decade with Little Shop of Horrors opening April 17 and running to May 19. Tickets are $25-$116 and will likely sell out fast, so visit irtlive.com or call the ticket office at 317-635-5252.
• Agape Theater Company will present Alice in Wonderland April 19-21 at the Arts for Lawrence Theatre at the Fort, 8920 Otis Ave. Tickets are $5-$15 and available online at artsforlawrence.org. The performance is by Agape’s Youth Theater Practicuum. Tickets are likely to sell out fast.
• Your gently used eclipse glasses can be sent to Latin America so kids down there can watch the October eclipse. Ship them to Eclipse Glasses USA, P.O. Box 50571, Provo UT 84605 before Aug. 1.
