• On April 3 and 4, 1974, Indiana experienced its most devastating tornado outbreak in history. A brief tornado touchdown in Boone County the morning of April 3 was the prelude to the major outbreak. Between 2:20 p.m. and 8 p.m., 20 additional tornadoes struck across an additional 45 counties killing 47 and injuring nearly 900 with property losses for nearly 6,000 families. • All Souls Unitarian Church, 5805 E. 56th St., will hold its Spring Fest on Saturday, March 30 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. They will have their Thousand Eggs Hunt and a visit from the Easter Bunny, plus live music, children’s crafts, games, story time, playground fun and free food. Friendly cats and dogs will visit courtesy of the Indianapolis Humane Society Paws Van. The egg hunt starts at noon.

• Irvington Community Schools will host the ICS Raven Fest on Saturday, April 13 from 4-9 p.m. at the Irvington Preparatory Academy, 5751 E. University Ave. Tickets are $5 at the gate, and the event will showcase the best of all three of the ICS schools, including art, student club demonstrations, live music, and more. There will be food trucks outside. Proceeds go to support ICS.
• A series of free workshops offered by Coburn Place called Taking Care of You aims to destigmatize prioritizing mental health for Black women. Taking Care of You: Relationships and Boundary Setting is an interactive workshop on Saturday, April 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at IBEW Local Union 481, 1828 N. Meridian St., Ste. 205. • The Kennedy-King Memorial Initiative will host the 56th Annual April 4 Commemorative event of the assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr. The event will be held on Thursday, April 4 at 5 p.m. at the MLK Park 1702 N. Broadway. The visitor’s center will be open from noon-5 p.m. and has artifacts and exhibits that illustrate the stories and significance of these two figures in our history. The event will feature speakers and performances that reflect on the progress made since 1968.
